For these purposes CFFM is a ‘data controller’ meaning that we decide how and why the personal data that we collect is used.

    We are a UK-based family mediation service offering confidential and impartial support to families.

We only gather the personal information we need for business purposes in order to provide you with the services you have requested

This means we  may collect personal data such as:

  • Name, contact details (phone, email, address)
  • Date of birth
  • Information about your family situation
  • Notes from mediation sessions
  • Financial or legal information relevant to mediation

    We process your data on the basis of:

If you are not the person who has requested our service we are permitted to contact you  to make sure that you have access to a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting which is part of the legal process (introduced by the Children and Families Act 2014, Section 10) and which should generally be offered prior to any application to court.

  1. Sharing Your Information

We do not share any information with third parties including courts unless

  1. We consider a child to be at significant risk of harm (safeguarding responsibility )
  2. The mediator believes that you are the recipient of proceeds from crime

  3. Data Retention
    We keep records for up to 6 years unless legal or regulatory requirements state otherwise.
  4. Your Rights
    You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data.

Please note this only applies to your individual information such as when we have met you on your own. Information from a joint mediation session is the property of both parties and can only be released with the permission of the other person who has taken part in the session.
